Apart from the thrill of teaching as a SAQG Accredited Quilting Teacher, I am always working towards a goal, such as an upcoming festival. I love to encourage other quilters to enter shows as I am passionate about exhibiting because the DIAS Spring Show in Port Elizabeth literally changed my life in 2008 when I visited their exhibition!I love all stages of quilt making, from the planning and the design process to the final finish. Although I love traditional patchwork, with my art background I cannot help but be drawn to pictorial fibre art. I love designing original quilts from my own photographs. Somehow I seem to have developed my own style using mixed methods on most of my quilts as I love to experiment and play with colour, fabric and thread.
I enter Regional Quilting Shows as I am passionate about exhibiting, and have taken part in every SAQG National Quilting Exhibition since 2017, which was the year I was awarded Master Quilter Status for my quilt “Exuberance” featuring a portrait of a boy playing the piano. In subsequent years I have done several portrait quilts such as one of my mom: “Equilibrium”, a self-portrait called “Memories”, and my quilt “Cherish” is a portrait of a dear friend, Nikki with her dog Lucy.
My quilts have earned 25 awards in Regional Shows (2015 - 2023), and 8 Awards in National Shows (2017 - 2024). I have participated in traveling quilt shows nationally and internationally. My work has also been shown at several Art Galleries in group Fibre Art exhibitions, where I have sold several wall quilts. Many of my quilts are now in private collections in SA, Australia, New Zealand, Qatar & Portugal.
