One of the objectives of the South Africa Quilters’ Guild is to encourage high standards of design and workmanship amongst quilt-makers. A way in which we can do this is to empower quilt teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills, and building confidence in teaching patchwork and quilting.
The aim of the Quilt Teacher Accreditation Course is to provide a well designed course for experienced quilters and quilt teachers. The QTAC is a self-study correspondence course over 12 months divided into three terms, with 5 quilt teaching related subjects, designed and led by dedicated and experienced tutors. The focus is on how to teach quilting affectively. The course requires students to meet strict conditions, as well as dedication and commitment to learning and personal growth.
Who should apply?
Quilt teachers and quilters with enthusiasm and desire to teach quilt-making. A quilter must have years of experience in all techniques of patchwork and quilting, by hand and by machine and the accompanying skills, must have made quilts in a variety of styles, have a good general knowledge of quiltmaking. Other advantages are, having attended classes with accredited and recommended teachers, been to quilt festivals as a participant and entered competitions and challenges.
