In the early 1980’s, Rose’s quilting journey began in ernest when she signed up for a sampler course which was done in the quilt as you go method. She went on to make eight quilts. In the late 1980’s, Rose joined the Queensborough Quilters Guild where she spent 10 or 15 years. Lately Rose meets once a month with some friends in one another’s homes. Rose is a founder member of the KwaZulu Natal Quilters Guild and the South African Quilters Guild, being present at the inaugural meeting of KZNQG. In those days, Rose participated in many different courses, but appliqué was her favourite technique. Rose draws her own templates and uses basic tools. She is a traditionalist through and through.
