2019 SAQG 30th Birthday Celebration Collection

2019 SAQG 30th Birthday Celebration Collection

In 2019 the South African Quilters Guild celebrated 30 years of quilting in South Africa, since 1989.

To mark the Guild’s 30th anniversary, all SAQG members were invited to participate by making a small quilt with the theme “Time to Celebrate”.

Size:  30cm x 30cm; Criteria:  ONLY and ALL the 6 colours of the SAQG logo must have been used, and any technique or combination of techniques may have been used to create the quilt.

From all the entries received, 30 quilts were selected for the SAQG 30th Birthday Collection.

The quilts were on show at the SAQG Stall during the National Quilt Festival in Johannesburg in 2019, and from there were part of the 11th SAQG Travelling Quilt Exhibition to travel around South Africa for the next two years.

Due to the ongoing national lockdown announced in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic , the SAQG decided to disband the Collection and return the quilts to their makers.  Images of the entries into the Collection below
